Description: Ceasor [Caesar] appears in a letter dated December 6, 1772 from Samuel White of Marblehead to Captain Andrew Stefield of the Schooner Woodbridge. In the letter, White instructs Stefield to sail to Petersburg, Virginia, stopping in Norfolk along the way to deliver a letter along with “[?] Proceeds of Mr John Clarkes Negro Ceasor by you in Good Flour & ye [?] Proceeds of some Handkerchiefs left by Capt. Pole.” John Clarke (likely 1729-1784) was a “Gentleman” of Marblehead, according to a 1765 land deed.
