Samuel Roads, Jr. reproduced a receipt between Jonathon Dodge, Caffee's enslaver, and Edmund Gale of the Snow Diligence for the loan of Caffee for a voyage to Cape Fear, London, and then back to New England in 1742: "M'head april 17 1742 this Day agreed with Mr. Jon-Dodge for ye. Service of his Negro Slave Caffee to perform a voyage in ye Snoe Diligence at Eight pounds per month to Cape Fear and London and back to New England his Service beginning Mar. 30th Last part. Edmd Gale"
